The Cornerstone Family Enrichment Center was established in June 2006 to promote community involvement and awareness, as well as strengthen families by teaching self-sufficiency and literacy education.
“In creating the center, we wanted a comfortable and friendly atmosphere that the entire family could enjoy,” said Cathy Huffman, Director of Children’s Services. “We’re working hard to build family and community relations. The center helps promote an awareness of resources and information through education and participation.”
Visitors to the center will have the opportunity to use:
- A Computer Lab that allows adults to explore career and job options and take part in educational and training opportunities. The computer lab Staff members will assist visitors in learning more about computer operations and researching and gathering information.
- A Children’s Area where parents can work without distraction and with the assurance that their children are close by and engaged in enrichment programs.
- A Family Library with books for all ages.
- A Social Area will encourage community gatherings and will host special events and guest speakers. Community members can look forward to picnics, holiday celebrations, art classes and exercise programs!
- A Neighborhood Resource Center that will offer on-site counseling, classes, support groups, health screenings and resource and referral services.
